• P JAK project 'Geohazards' (2025– ; Associate Researcher) Natural and Anthropogenic Georisks. 
• ERC-CZ project (2022–25; Associate Researcher) New project will investigate the potential of the Greenland Ice Sheet to produce and release methane – CryoEco Microbiological scope -- subglacial meltwater & sediments, incubation experiments, ice drilling & sediment coring.
• GAUK project (2019–21; PI) focus on the experimental part of my PhD project. Using microcosms to simulate the glacial-to-proglacial ecosystem transition. Incubation experiments, 16S rRNA/rDNA, GC-FID, etc.
• GAČR project (2018–21; PhD student) focusing on Microbial methane oxidation beneath glaciers. The project is based primarily on incubation experiments, aiming to quantitatively assess the potential for anaerobic microbial methane oxidation in subglacial ecosystems. More @CryoEco website
• AFG (2017; PI) Fieldwork-based project. Thanks to the Research Council of Norway Arctic Field Grant, I  conducted a sailing trip across the Isfjorden (Svalbard) and sampled geologically discern glaciers, including their forefields. Samples were used in the experimental study of the microbial community development during the glacial-to-proglacial ecosystem transition. Project details  @CryoEco and RiS.

Fieldworks



~ accumulated ​9,5 months in the field (High Arctic)

​

My experience include logistics, problem solving, supervision & leading of small group of people, safety assessment, glacier touring, radio & satellite communication, helicopter riding & slinging, remote camping etc. I'm trained in administering first aid in remote areas. ​I'm experienced in aseptic and ultraclean sampling of liquids and solids in the field, filtering, in-situ incubations, extracting of gas from water, GHG measurements using portable spectrometer (MGGA), algae collection, and continuous river monitoring. 
  • Jul 2025 Geohazards project filtering meltwater and collecting suspended sediments, basal ice & incorporated glaciofluvial sediments at Isunnguata Sermia upwelling outlet (SW GrIS). Hiking in n out, camping on sandy forefield. 2025 field work is done – CryoEco
  • Jun–Jul 2024 MARCH4G: ERC-CZ project - hot-water drilling to the base of IS glacier (SW Greenland). Continuation of the previous field season. Mixed experience of drilling, coring, sampling and supervising. Collection of borehole water, supraglacial (cryoconite) and subglacial sediments for biogeochemical analyses and incubation experiments. Direct measurements of physicochemical properties and gas concentration.
  • Jul–Aug 2023 MARCH4G: ERC-CZ project - hot-water drilling to the base of Isunnguata Sermia (IS) glacier (SW Greenland), testing of drilling setup and equipment for sampling of subglacial sediments through the ~1000 m deep hole in the ice. Camping on ice > 20 days. Experience of the 2023 fieldwork season -- meltwater & sediment sampling, filtering, gas measurements (MGGA), moving & carrying heavy load over glacier ice, logistics, radio communication, preparation of loads for slinging, decision making, managing, etc.
  • Jul–Aug 2022 MARCH4G: ERC-CZ project sampling campaign, as a continuation of the previous year. Glaciers visited this year were in a proximity of Nuuk, Narsarsuaq, and Kangerlussuaq cities. 2022 fieldwork is done – CryoEco.eu
  • Aug–Sep 2021 MARCH4G: ERC-CZ project sampling campaign led by M. Stibal. Collecting samples of meltwater targeting subglacial outflows - filtering & preserving. Helping with collection and measuring of CH4 and CO2. Additional sampling of basal ice sediments at Issunguata Sermia glacier terminus (SW GrIS). Hiking with heavy load, camp-based field research etc. 2021 fieldwork is done – CryoEco.eu
  • Jul 2021​ GRISMEME: GAČR project sampling campaign led by J. Žárský. Sampling cryoconite over ~ 200 km transect in the ablation zone of W GrIS. Multiple days hiking on glacier surface and helicopter taxi.
  • Jul 2019 AnOxMe: GAČR project sampling of SW GrIS meltwater and subglacial sediments for incubation lab experiments targeting anaerobic oxidation of methane. 2019 fieldwork is done CryoEco.eu * Published: Znamínko et al. 2023
  • Jun–​Jul 2018 WhatTheFlux project led by J. Hawkings (University of Bristol). Camp-based field research next to the Leverett Glacier (SW GrIS). Sampling of meltwater, filtering and preserving of samples for later analyses of biogeochemistry and CH4. Continuous measurements of river pH, temp., cond., and discharge rates.
